... everyone that made the evening a great success!

Garforth Town held our annual presentation evening last Saturday and the night went down a storm.
A massive thankyou to all that turned out to celebrate the awards, celebrate Chris Mather and to give outgoing legend Paul Cavell a much deserved standing ovation for his long service to the club.

A special thanks should go to the family of Ralph Backhouse for travelling up from Wales to present the recently established "Ralph Backhouse trophy" to Mr. consistent - Sam Leach (Leach by name and nature, as many left wingers found out this season).

As expected, Mark Simpson went home with a clutch of awards - Golden boot, supporters' player of the season and a special award for setting two club records (scoring in ten consecutive games and scoring thirty league goals in a season).

Mitch Hamilton pipped Mark to another prize, by scooping the goal of the season award (which was voted for by players and supporters on the night) with his tremendous run and finish against Clipstone back in August.

Luke McCrum was a popular choice for most improved player. Having a regular partner with plenty of experience (Ryan Donoghue) has brought out the best in the young centre back.

Players' player of the season went to Jack McMurrough. Is it a coincidence that Garforth lost a bit of tempo and energy when his season ended through injury at Afc Mansfield?

The shy and retiring James Beaston earned Rob Hunters' managers' player of the season trophy, although he would probably win many opponents' least favourite player trophy! "Beast" is also fond of a chop (not the pork variety).

Most pleased winner of the night was Philip Briggs, when he was presented with a framed photo of his favourite player - Mark Simpson.

To be fair, the whole squad deserve a collective award. We may have had a mixed season on the pitch, but they'll be carrying a brilliant and confident team spirit into next season and that can't come soon enough!

We'll have more photos from the evening soon.
