The Garforth Town youngsters gave a good display in this difficult FA Youth Cup match away at Worksop Town but didn't have Lady Luck on their side I'm afraid. The game was tight and tense in the early exchanges and Worksop broke the deadlock on some 25 minutes with a fortunate goal. A long cross aimed for the Worksop centre forward went over his head and fell to Garforth sweeper Adam Atkinson. His volleyed clearance smashed into the face of a Worksop player and straight into the running line of a Worksop forward who coolly slotted the ball home to give Worksop a 1-0 lead. Garforth then had their only real piece of luck in the game when Worksop hit the crossbar from a header from a corner. The game continued to remain tight but Garforth looked on top with their slick passing game. Garforth number 9 Seth Hartley had a great chance to level the scores on 60 minutes with a free header from 8 yards which the keeper fumbled but Seth was unable to force home the rebound. On 70 minutes Garforth man of the match Alex Diggle slipped in possession just outside his own box to allow the striker to pick up the loose ball and slot home. Cruel!! Lively Ewan Gray pulled one back with a low shot and as Garforth pushed more men forwards in search of an equaliser against a now visibly tiring Worksop eleven one sensed an outcome of either 2-2 or 3-1 to Worksop. Alas it became the latter as Worksop grabbed a third on the counter late in the game. A very good effort by the Garforth boys but not to be on this occasion I'm afraid.
