A salvo of 3 unanswered goals in the first 18 minutes of the match effectively sealed the points for the Garforth Town u21 side at an unusually early juncture of a match. The Garforth boys played out the remaining 72 minutes of the contest seemingly on a mission to ensure that the points remained within their grasp and one could be forgiven for thinking that the boys were in the making of the next FA masterclass video entitled 'how to keep possession of the ball' for they severely limited the chance of Goole United snatching back the game with their 75% and maybe upwards possession of the ball ratio. Mbire opened the scoring on 5 minutes when a Fletcher corner was headed down by Croft to Stevenson who 'dinked' it to Mbire. Mbire hit the ball on the half turn and half volley to give the keeper little chance to react. Goal number 2 arrived 5 minutes later and is surely an early 'goal of the season contender'. Mbire received the ball deep in the Goole United half from a Garforth throw in and sucked in 3 defenders before slipping the ball to Fletcher. With Fletcher inside the box but tight to the dead ball line there seemed little option for anything but a cutback but Fletcher had other ideas and 'in stepped' the ball low into the far corner of the net. Goal number 3 again involved man of the match Fletcher when he won a 50/50 challenge just inside his own half and very quickly released Taylor forward with a clever disguised, reverse pass. Taylor drove forward and unselfishly played in Wealthall for a tap in. Goole tried to make the game interesting with a nicely worked goal on 70 minutes when they got in behind the Garforth left back Cuttle and then switched the ball to the far post. All in all a very good night's work for the Garforth Town u21s.
