Garforth Town Goal Scorers: Harold Monkam and Raul Fletcher
Another good contest, another good performance from the Garforth boys and a point to take away from high flying Tadcaster Albion. A very satisfying evening all round for the Miners! The first half was a tense affair and goal scoring chances were few and far between. Both sides looked very organised. Town broke the deadlock on 37 minutes when Raul Fletcher beat his man in midfield and then switched play out wide to young Seth Hartley. Seth then switched play again with his chipped pass to the far post where Garforth Town man of the match Harold Monkam, who exuded pace, strength and aggression all evening, headed in at the near post. The goal seemed to spur Tadcaster into action and they created 2 good chances in the next 8 minutes leading up to half time - the first saw Garforth keeper Dan Booth tipping a good shot onto the post and the second, from the resultant corner, saw Garforth clear a Tadcaster effort off their line. 1- 0 to Garforth at half time. Within a minute of the restart of the second half Garforth were awarded a penalty when Harold Monkam was tripped inside the box. Garforth's captain Lee Coulthard's low shot was saved by the Tadcaster keeper.
Within 30 seconds of the penalty miss Tadcaster had equalised - a swift counter attack producing the goal. As the game progressed the game become more open and one sensed more goals to come. Tadcaster took the lead with a scrappy goal when the ball bobbed about in the Garforth box from a long throw but Garforth adopted a 'never say die attitude' and secured the equaliser their play deserved late in the game. Garforth won a free kick just outside of the box. Tommy Reynolds delivered a peach of a ball and Mat Devlin headed the ball back across the face of the goal. Raul Fletcher did well to lose his man before tapping in the ball into the net at the far post. Final result 2- 2 and a great game. An excellent point for the Town. Can't wait for the next game with the boys in this form!
