Garforth Town Man of Match: Fabian Evans - shown pictured
Once again it was a very disappointed Garforth Town dressing room at the end of this match as the reality set in that the outplayed Glossop North End visitors had pinched the 3 points. Garforth dominated possession and position for large parts of this match and this was reflected in the goal scoring chances statistics - 19 to Garforth and 9 to Glossop. Garforth created 4 top goal scoring chances in the first half with 3 falling to Monkam and 1 to Hartley but a combination of good goal keeping and non composed finishing meant that the half time score remained at 0- 0. First teamer Helmo Silva had a glorious chance to open the scoring in the 60th minute when Mat Devlin picked him out in the box with a glorious 30 yard diagonal ball but Helmo made a real hash of his attempted finish. On 87 minutes disaster struck when Glossop scored with their only real clear cut chance of the game. There looked to be little danger when Mat Devlin played a 25 yard back pass but young Garforth keeper Dan Booth reacted to it too slowly and allowed their centre forward to nip in and score. Well done to Glossop for keeping belief when being outplayed to pinch the points and well done to the young Garforth boys for playing so well.
