Garforth Town Man of Match: Enoque Motando
The Garforth youngsters dominated the early stages of this match and with more careful finishing could easily have been 2-0 up after 10 minutes. The Garforth man of the match Enoque Motando, who tormented the Liversedge back 4 all evening, had a glorious chance to opening the scoring after about 5 minutes but sliced his shot wide from a good position after he had beaten his full back. Minutes later young Josh Prince looked certain to score for Garforth after the ball bobbled about in the Liversedge penalty area. His dillying as he framed up to shoot was bad enough but then came the dallying giving a relieved Liversedge defender the time to throw his body at it and block the shot. Garforth were made to pay for these 2 missed chances as Liversedge opened the scoring courtesy of a poor pass out from Garforth defender Jaydon Armstrong. Fellow defender Micah Bleau dashed back to try and block the shot but presumably suffering from exhaustion after his 20 yard recovery run could only manage to smash it into his own net. Once again Garforth had a great chance to score on 30 minutes when they managed to manufacture a 3 on 1 situation but 16 year old Jamaal Whyles, who otherwise had a good game, clean through and just 5 yards from their goal kicked the floor instead of the ball! What a let off for Liversedge! The home side bagged a second shortly before half time when an unmarked Liversedge forward tapped the ball home from about 6 yards out from a corner. Cue a zonal or man marking debate from corners at half time for the Garforth boys. Young Jamaal Whyles came within inches of pulling one back for Garforth within minutes from the start of the second half but Liversedge keeper Hetish finger tipped his shot onto the post. Raul Fletcher then had a god chance to open the scoring for Garforth but saw his effort blocked by a defender. Liversedge made the game safe on 61 minutes with a replica of the second goal - a tap in from a corner - which effectively meant that the half time zonal or man marking debate would be filed under w for 'waste of time'. Liversedge scored a 4th late in the game to seal a disappointing evening for the Garforth boys.
