Armthorpe Welfare 0 Garforth Town 2

The first half was pretty much all Garforth with the home never really threatening. A decent chance was carved out on 5 mins after good work in the corner by Tawanda Rupere (making his 50th appearance) and Sinmi Oyebanji. Oyebanji's ball almost picking out Danny Harris at the far post but just going over his head.

On 12 mins Andy Hawksworth nearly opened the scoring when receiving a clearance on the edge of the box, putting a low shot straight at Welfare keeper Carl Robinson. Two mins later Luke Mangham put a strike just wide after getting on the end of Hawksworth's cross and was unlucky shortly after when supplied by the Miners' captain again, having a goalbound header cleared off the line.

On 20 mins though we took a deserved lead, admittedly with a helping hand from Armthorpe defender Josh Gibbons. His back pass to Robinson was well short and Mangham was quick enough to latch onto it, evade Robinson's challenge and slot into the empty net.

Ten minutes later a decent cross into the box by Rupere found Ashley Preece at the far post who forced another save from Robinson with a header. Some more good work by Oyebanji three mins before the break brought Robinson into action again; Mangham's powerful drive forcing a great stop.

The lads had played some excellent attacking football, albeit against limited opponents and five minutes into the second half had a second. An excellent through ball from Rupere found the lively Harris who broke clear to round Robinson and fire into the net from a narrow angle. The ex-Millmoor Juniors man has returned from injury recently and is one who Graham will surely be hoping to see more of in the coming weeks.

Ben Hunter was finally called into action on 53 mins when Scott Hardman played in Darren Mansaram who forced a save with a powerful shot. Defender Jassim Alali had been playing in more of a midfield position and almost grabbed his first Town goal when his free kick over the wall was deflected but into the arms of Robinson.

Sub Dominic Hackney almost made it a perfect return to action on 80 mins after receiving a stray pass and making a foray into the penalty area, but Robinson was equal to his low shot.

After the second goal Town had been able to sit back a little allowing the Doncaster side to try and haul themselves back into the game. In the end though it was probably a night to forget for them, but a hairy moment did come just before the end when lively sub Bhekisipho Sibanda made a run down the right and put in a dangerous ball Alali was forced to clear off the line.

A comfortable victory for The Miners to send us into the Quarter Finals and leave our hosts looking to avenge the defeat in the league game here in just over three weeks time.
