Garforth opened the scoring after only 7 minutes when Jamie Price fired a shot from just outside the area which smashed in off the underside of the crossbar. One contender for November's goal of the month already! However the joy was very short-lived indeed - just after the restart Woodley's Scott Hogan went on a run down the right and slotted home past the oncoming Lee Kelsey (8 mins). The Town number 1 pulled off a good save on 40 minutes, keeping out a Woodley header. Three minutes later Chris Howarth went on a run down the left and unselfishly squared the ball to Paul Walker who's shot from outside the box was blocked by a defender. The end-to-end nature of the game so far told once again when just before half-time a Woodley cross went in from the left and Mathew Kosylo headed home.
Five minutes into the second-half the ball was fed to Indy Aujla on the left who saw his strike deflect off a defender and go wide. On 65 minutes the Miners were back in the game. From a similar position we were awarded a free-kick and Paul Walker struck home, the ball maybe taking a couple of deflections on its way to the bottom right-hand corner. Two minutes later Garforth were ahead again - Walker finding himself free in the area to slot home past the home 'keeper. Frustratingly for the small away contingent present the lead once again wasn't to last and 6 minutes later a Woodley corner from the right saw Hogan rise the highest to head home (3-3). Eighty mins gone and Town recieved a couple of corners, defender Milton Turner ventured up the field and was unlucky to see a curling shot go wide (83'). Just as the game looked to be going to extra-time the home side had the final say on 88 minutes when a passing move ended in Hogan slotting home and claiming his hat-trick.
A disappointing result at the final whistle in a game which Town very much played their part, although to be fair some very good football was played by both sides. Town slipped to 21st in the table on the same evening and will need to pick themselves up for arguably the business-end of the two fixtures vs the Steelmen on Saturday.
Town team: Kelsey, Turner, Villerman, Marron, Westcarr (Pacey 45), Price, Brown, Aujla, Walker, Howarth, Collins (Priestley 76ish). Subs not used: Fisher, Ibrahim.
