Garforth welcome Rossington Main to the Bannister Prentice Stadium this Saturday for the biggest game here in over a decade.
The NCEL Premier Division playoff final is the prize for the winner of what should be a thrilling encounter.
Garforth won the two other meetings between the sides this season, but Rossington have gathered momentum going into the final weeks of the season and both sides go into this “cup tie” with unbeaten runs going back to early March.
Ross Hannah and Manasse Kianga have 21 and 17 goals to their names respectively for the visitors and will be the main threat.
Garforth have goal threats from all over the park, with Matt Antcliff, Sam Barker and Charlie Marshall all well into double figures, and recent signing Sam Cable banging in four goals in Towns’ last five games.
Victory for the Miners in the league fixture here back in early September was a catalyst for Garforths’ push up the table. It came on the back of a seven game winless start to the season, as Town struggled to overcome the losses of the previous seasons top scorers, Marshall and James Burgess.
New signings gave a fresh impetus to the side, who went on to lose just twice in the next sixteen games.
Garforth fans will be hoping that Matt Antcliff and Jordan Emery can overcome injuries in time for Saturday, but seeing Jay Davis and Jamie Barkway return in recent weeks has been a massive boost.
Kick-off at the Bannister Prentice Stadium is 3pm and if the scores are level at full time, the game will go straight to a penalty shoot-out.
Please get here early, the clubhouse is open from 12pm and food outlets from 12.30pm.
