Thackley’s danger man Delroy White came close with a couple of headers on 17 and 18 mins, his first saved by Ben Hunter and second just over the bar from a Mark Trueman delivery.
A good spell of pressure brought about Garforth’s first chance on 20 mins; Nick Black receiving a decent ball into the box from Chris Simpkins, but shot wide. Jay Davis also came close two mins later after breaking clear of the defence, but his low effort went past the far post.
Good work by Black almost saw him open the scoring on 25’ with a powerful drive which Sinmi Oyebanji headed over from close range.
In what was a well-contested game Hunter was there to keep The Miners in it towards the end of the half, tipping a Trueman free kick over the bar on 34 mins and pulling off an even better save on 42’ from Damian Hopkins after a goalmouth scramble.
Another decent delivery from Simpkins, this time from a corner, on 38 mins saw Andy Hawksworth denied by a brilliant save from Dennyboys' keeper Ed Hall.
Town couldn’t make their good spell count and on 50 mins the plucky home side put themselves in front. Ryan Farrell beat Jack McCarthy on the left and put a low ball into the box which was turned in by White.
Nine mins later though Garforth had an equalizer. Jay Davis did well to pick out Nick Black in space who found the net with a neat finish into the far corner. Six goals in seven games now for our top scorer.
On 79 mins a glorious chance fell to the industrious Daniel Harris when a powerful effort from Davis was parried into the air by Hall but his tame header was easily gathered.
The stubborn and organised home side were still looking to get forward however and two minutes later some good play on the right by the Dennyboys ended in Trueman firing just over the bar.
Time was ticking now for Town in a performance which just lacked the finishing touch in front of goal. On 83 mins Hawksworth shot just wide from a tight angle after some good passing football in the middle, but 1-1 was how it finished.
