After a humbling defeat at Nostell the previous week, Garforth could have felt under a spot of pressure to put things right against bottom placed Glasshoughton.
The Miners dominated from the start and Mark Simpson had an early goal ruled out for offside. Welfare did cause an early scare of their own when Kingsley Weatherald was able to nick the ball from the toe of Garforth goalkeeper; Paul Hagreen, but the keeper recovered and forced him wide.
Luke Mangham and Nick Black were proving difficult to stop every time they tore down the flanks, but despite their multiple chances, Garforth had to wait until the thirty fifth minute when a Tawanda Rupere cut-back was bundled into the net by a mixture of Simpson and Welfare defender Richard Dawley.
With their second meaningful chance of the the half, Glasshoughton stunned Garforth with an equaliser four minutes before half time. Aaron Horton beat Hagreen with a fine effort after his equally good approach play.
Garforth again took time breaking down the Glasshoughton defence in the second half, but the inevitable goal came on seventy nine minutes. Adam Walsh managed to wipe out both Mangham and Sinmi Oyebanji in the penalty area with a single rash challenge. Joshua Archer did well to save Manghams' spot kick, but was helpless as Sam Jones was quickest to the loose ball, dispatching it into the bottom corner.
Nick Black almost put the game to bed, but saw a powerful shot graze the post. Moments later Jones did give Garforth a two goal comfort zone and a pretty comprehensive three points.
