Injuries and illness kept Lee Turner and Nash Connolly out, while Jamie Barkway had commitments that were arranged before this fixture was brought forward.
Max Davies joined Ashton Peltier and Sam Denton on the bench, Jordan Emery shuffled across to centre back and Steven Jeff made his first start for Garforth at left back.

Garforth were quick out of the blocks and an early Jay Davis shot flashed low past the far post, but chances were at a premium for the next fifteen minutes, until Sam Barker raced onto a ball over the top by Jeff. Barton keeper Ryan Musselwhite dithered momentarily, before colliding with Barker and conceding a penalty.
Charlie Marshall took the ball and stroked the spot-kick straight down the middle.

The goal seemed to have an adverse effect on the Miners, as they sat back for a while and gave Barton the chance to get a foothold in the game.
Josh Lacey unleashed a fierce dipping drive that crashed off the Garforth bar and minutes later the turning point came when Garforth were reduced to ten men.

A Barton corner was nodded down towards the far post, when Rinor Ejupi leaned into it with his arm, giving the referee no option other than to brandish the red card.
Tom Waudbys' penalty struck the foot of Flatters' left post, but unfortunately cannoned back in off the back of the diving keeper.

Flatters was called upon to make a couple more fine saves (one from another blunderbuss of an effort by Lacey), as Garforth fought to keep the score level.
As the ten men of Garforth looked to defend in numbers and hit on the break, Marshall cut a lone figure up front, but his chance came midway through the second half .
Antcliff nicked the ball in midfield and found Barker, whose through ball sent Marshall scampering away from two defenders. With just the keeper to beat, his shot bobbled agonisingly wide.

The big talking point came soon after.
Harry Viggars, up for a corner, showed deft footwork to wriggle the ball between two defenders in the box before being sandwiched and sent sprawling. Perhaps two penalties awarded in one game was enough, as play was waved on, to the dismay of the contingent that had travelled from LS25.
Salt was rubbed in Towns' wounds moments later when Harrison Coley bundled what would be the winning goal over the line.

Paul Marshall used his three substitutes and moved Emery up front as an auxiliary striker, but there were few chances in the remaining ten minutes (plus four for stoppages).
Peltier thought he'd found space in the box late on, but a great defensive tackle denied him the chance to shoot.

A disappointing result on the road, but with two home games coming up this week, there’s a big opportunity to put Garforth back in contention for the play-off places.
