Another defeat that was difficult to take for this was once again a tight match which Garforth dominated in terms of possession, approximately 60% to the home side, but which unravelled when Yorkshire Amateurs scored the crucial opening goal courtesy of a bad error by the Garforth side. The first half saw virtually no meaningful goal scoring chances for either side and the game ran to a pattern of Garforth taking the game to the away side via their short passing game and the Amateurs trying to hit Garforth on the break. 0-0 at half time. The game changed dramatically early in the second half when Garforth were a little casual in passing their way of their own box and stand-in keeper Joe Colley's attempted pass to Mat Devlin was intercepted and tapped into an unguarded net. The Amateurs virtually made the game safe a few minutes later when a bread and butter near post shot was not quite dealt with by Colley and minutes later the away side made it 3 with a long range effort. Garforth scored a consolation late in the game when 16 year Jamaal Whyles, on his debut, scored a beauty from a direct free kick on the edge of the box. Final result 3-1 to the visitors and once again a match in which splendid approach work has been undone by a lapse of concentration - the squad once again contained 10 school kids so all in all one has to be happy with how well the toddlers coped with a much older Amateurs side.
